MEET YOUR PROFESSOR

 

Naomie Jean-Pierre is a Haitian-born writer, mentor, and educator. She is a writer and visual artist whose specialty in fiction, poetry, and children’s books has led her to use language to investigate topics on the black body, form, and critical theory. She holds an MA Literature degree from the City College of New York in conjunction with an international certificate in American Studies from the University of Paris 7, Diderot. She earned her undergraduate degree in English from Howard University. Her work has been featured in Mud Season Review, The Lily Review, Fiction Magazine, Noble Gas Quarterly and more. She was nominated for a 2018 Pushcart Prize for Short Fiction. Today, she lives in Harlem and mentors rising high school students at the Countee Cullen branch of the NYPL.
